Seasonal Showers
A Merry Little Shower
I got married in December, and my sister-in-law-to-be (also a bridesmaid) gave me the best shower. It had a Christmas theme -- my future mother-in-law's house was decorated for the season, and it was so much fun. I had registered for Christmas stuff, and people bought me cute things on their own too. Now at Christmas I have all the decorations I could ever need. I even have stuff that I love but would never have bought for myself (Christmas dishes, towels, blankets, etc.). --iVillager K
A Holiday Shower
A friend of mine threw a ''holiday'' shower for the bride-to-be. As a young couple, they didn't have many decorations for each holiday, so each guest was assigned a holiday and brought suitable decorations. --iVillager A
Deck the (Reception) Halls
Wedding Ornaments
We are going to partially decorate a Christmas tree at the reception hall and ask that each guest bring a tree ornament. We will wind up with a great collection of ornaments that we will have for years to come as a reminder of the occasion. We also are going to give ornaments as favors. --iVillager M
A Snow Scene
A friend of mine is getting married and has asked me choose decorations for her; her date is close to Christmas. We will have a white-flocked tree, sprayed silver birch branches and sterling silver roses. After they are announced husband and wife, we will sprinkle fake snow and glitter on them from the catwalk above. It should make a beautiful picture. --iVillager Valerie
Christmas Light Reception
We bought white Christmas tree lights in January. They will be used with white netting, ivy and flowers to decorate our reception hall. --leander
Beyond Winter White
Holiday Muffs
My wedding was during the holidays, so I wanted to be a little different. My bridesmaids wore velvet hunter green dresses, so instead of the usual bouquets I made white muffs and had the flowers pinned on them. They were beautiful. I even made a tiny one for my flower girl. --iVillager S.
The Gift-Giving Season
Silver Bells
I am getting married a week before Christmas, so to tie into a holiday theme and match my colors of silver and blue, I'm going to give silver bells to each guest. I tied ribbons to the bells with the wedding date and our names. I'll put them on the reception tables or on the Christmas tree for guests to grab on their way in. Finally, I've asked the DJ to instruct the guests to ring the bells to greet us upon arrival at the reception. --iVillager E.
RSVP from Santa
My fiance's family is so big that there will be about 20 children under 12 at our wedding and reception. To accommodate them, we're going to put crayons and coloring books at each of their places. But for a very special touch, we've invited Santa Claus to hand out gifts to all of them. We're going to get some special photos taken with Santa and us with all of the kids. It should be great fun. --Dana
Ornamental Gifts
My niece was recently married in December, and she gave hand-painted Christmas tree ornaments as favors. They were all bought last year after Christmas (big after-Christmas sale) and were very festive. The vases for the centerpieces were also Christmas ornaments. --iVillager J.
