Sleeping Broom Bearer
In my recent wedding, we had my husband's son, Z, as our "broom bearer". We planned to jump the broom after our first kiss and during the recessional. As the pastor announces Mr. and Mrs. M...we look over at his son to find him sound asleep with grandma! My husband's oldest cousin jumps up to help, and attempts to wake him up. The cousin gets Z to stand but his eyes can't seem to stay open, and his arms couldn't hold the broom. The cousin half carries him to the front while holding the broom and places it at the aisle. He is, in effect, sleep walking! The whole church laughed as we realized that was the most memorable moment of the wedding! We can't wait to see it on video, Z will never live it down! LOL!

I got 2 funny stories. I was the only little girl in the family for a long time. I'm 23 and there's finally been a girl born in our family. Anyway...I've been flower girl several times. For one of my dad's cousin's wedding I was flower girl, maybe 3 or 4 years old (and yes I remember this). I remember standing at the altar and in the middle of vows I went to the middle of the church and asked "Is it over yet? I'm tired." As ring bearer and flower girl in my mom's aunt's wedding, my brother and I exited the altar together. The wedding was in New York in the fall and the leaves were on the ground. The wedding and reception were at the same venue but we had to walk outside to go to where the reception was. The wedding party exited and walked to the reception together as everyone watched. My brother immediately began picking up leaves off the ground and stuffing them all in his pockets. I look up to my brother...so I filled my basket with leaves too. I used to get teased with both of these stories from my mother. LOL!! :)
