Favors for the Reception

Lace from the bride's grandmother is replicated in pink fondant

What is your advice for brides on finding inspiration for a design?
Look everywhere! We have copied the lace from dresses (see photo on left), handkerchiefs and more. We've also matched prints from paintings and postcards. Some people bring us swatches of fabric with a specific color or a design from their wedding invitation. If you are completely lost, think of the room that the reception will be in. Imagine all of the tablecloths and flowers, the guests mingling and the music playing. Then picture your cake. What do you see?

What's the longest amount of time you've ever spent decorating one cake?
For us, the average wedding cake takes the entire day before the event to decorate. But if the design calls for a lot of extra sugar decorations (flowers, butterflies, etc.) we sometimes start these months in advance.
