I'm trying to put together a timeline/schedule for my wedding reception. I know I can arrange things however I want them, but I don't want my guests thinking I'm an idiot for doing things wrong.

For the order of the reception, you can do things in any order you wish, but the usual order is:
- Grand entrance
- 1st dance
- [optional: father-daughter dance, mother-son dance, or these go after the first toasts]
- Best Man's Toast
- Maid of Honor's Toast
- Start of dinner, with dancing during the meal and between courses
- Additional toasts after the meal, such as your toast to your parents
- Cutting the cake
- Bouquet toss, if you'll have that tradition
Again, you can toy with the order of things to suit the timing of your event -- it's completely up to you.
