There are a variety of ways to cut costs when planning your wedding. One very easy method is to omit the word "wedding" when you're calling around for estimates. Instant Weddings: From "Will you?" to "I Do!" in Four Months or Less has simple tips on what to say to potential wedding vendors when calling for an estimate.
When scouting locations, instead of saying:
"I'm looking for a place to hold my wedding reception."
You say: "I'm hoping to book a place for a private party."
When shopping for a gown, instead of saying:
"I'm hoping to buy a fabulous wedding dress."
You say: "I'm looking for a fabulous dress."
When looking for a florist, instead of saying:
"How much for wedding bouquets?"
You say: "How much for a pretty floral arrangement?"
